November is National Skin Care Month

Everybody needs good skin care — from newborns to those over 100. That’s why National Healthy Skin Month is everyone’s awareness month. This month makes you aware of what it takes to keep your skin healthy and understand how to treat and prevent common skin problems. This November, we’re sharing little techniques you can do at home to keep your skin, hair, and nails healthy and looking their best.

Protect Your Skin
Old sunscreen that’s expired loses its ability to protect our skin. So, check your expiration date and if it has passed, toss the old bottle and buy yourself a new sunscreen this month. Sunscreen is the most potent product to protect our skin from the sun’s damaging rays and maintain our youthful, dewy glow.
Rub A New Moisturizer Into Your Skin
It can be light and thin or rich and creamy. Whatever your preference, the key is to hydrate your skin with something that feels nourishing. Beyond moisturizing your hands, slide lotion all over your body, including your feet. We recommend trying our body butters, naturally rich in antioxidants and vitamins necessary for skin nourishment and protection.
Relieve dry hands and brittle nails. Have your hands and nails become very dry from repeated washing and using hand sanitizers? Apply hand cream to your hands, nails, and cuticles after every handwashing. This can prevent dryness and brittle nails. We offer lovely body & hand lotions that will save your hands this season. Light and quickly absorbing, they help balance various skin types, including men’s.

Prevent nail fungus. Both athlete’s foot and sweating increase your risk of developing nail fungus, which can cause nails to thicken, lift, and turn yellow. Keeping your feet dry and treating an athlete’s foot promptly may prevent these nail changes. To avoid cracked heels, try La Salle BOTANIQUE’s Moisturizing Foot Mask with Aloe & Menthol; it is a thick, occlusive cream that creates a watertight barrier on the outside of the skin to keep your body’s natural moisture in and outside irritants out.

Reduce wrinkles. Sun damage and age are big culprits in building wrinkles, but sleeping on your side or stomach may contribute to sleep lines on your face and chest. If you can, sleep on your back. It’s a simple step that can reduce or prevent the formation of these lines.

Have healthier hair. Getting your hair cut regularly will make it healthier because cutting removes hair that would split. However, frequent haircuts will not make your hair grow faster. Hair growth occurs beneath the skin, so cutting it doesn’t affect how quickly hair grows. We offer a variety of hair care products for men and women: clarifying and moisturizing shampoos, grooming oils, and creamy conditioners targeting different scalp and hair issues.

Feed Your Skin Antioxidants
Eat vegetables and fruit to neutralize free radicals with antioxidants. Harmful things like alcohol, fried foods, and inflammation bombard our skin daily from the inside. Air pollution and UV rays shoot from the outside. This month, help your skin regain balance by eating servings of fruit and vegetables. And remember to eat all the other skin-benefiting foods, too. You can go nuts with almonds, spice it up with cinnamon, and amend your skin with avocado.
Take Your Skin To Its Annual Exam
You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to get your annual skin check-up. Your dermatologist will ask you a few simple questions about your skin. Then, they’ll gently examine it. There are about twenty square feet of skin on your body, and only one square foot is on your face. Although your face is the most visible part, other areas are more hidden but still essential to check, like your back. Your dermatologist will pay special attention to the spots and moles on your body. They’re looking for things like the size of moles, irregular borders, and specific colors. Expect them to ask you if you’ve noticed any changes to your moles.
